In today’s video I talk about how much prices in the Barrie and Simcoe County area have fallen since the inflated market of 2022. As well as showing the September Real Estate Statistics for Barrie and Simcoe County, I am going to talk about what has happened to a few home buyers who bought in 2022 and are selling in 2026.
Let’s talk about the prices. Prices have cratered from their highs of 2022. We all know that. In the video I am going to give you a few real life examples of houses that sold at the peak of the market and what they have recently sold for or what they are currently listed for sale for right now.
Now if you did not buy a house at the peak of the market this probably doesn’t affect you. But if you did, as the people in these examples I show show you did, this kind of drop greatly affects you. The market back then was truly out of control and people were buying based on Fear of Missing out, but I still don’t like to see anyone lose that much money on a house purchase.
In 2022 home sellers were getting dozens of showings when they put their house on the market and then potentially dozens of offers with massive prices on those offers. Things have changed today and home sellers are lucky to get one or two home buyers viewing their home per week.
Some people who bought at peak prices also now have to contend with higher interest rates and it has made some monthly mortgage payments unsustainable.
Prices everywhere have cratered since 2022 and may not have hit bottom yet. But one segment of the market actually saw an increase in prices in September.
